AR has the longest hours in our lab, running from six in the morning until midnight or one A.M. many days. Our facility itself requires constant attention to temperature, humidity, and cleanliness.

It takes three hours for AR equipment cleanup, with staff wearing respirators and safety gear while using hydrochloric acid to remove residual coating from the jar over our AR unit, then removing all the metal parts and sand blasting them free of accumulated coating.All AR tooling and chambers must be cleaned using materials that are themselves free of contaminants such as water, oil, or particulates. The quality of the coating also depends on the integrity of the vacuum in the coating chamber. This requires regular leak checks and lubrication of vacuum seals.

In addition, AR equipment and parts must be routinely serviced and replaced as necessary, including e-gun cathode assemblies, ion guns, high-vacuum gauges, and Meissnertrap refrigerant units.

This Product is one of the safest of it's kind on the market. The unique combination of acids and solvents in water permits the use of only 11.5% of an acid mix and still be the best and fastest Hydrophobic residue remover that provides a minimum of accidental health hazards.

How to Clean a Ring or a Rack

Pour the liquid into a plastic container with a snap on lid. Make sure that when not in use the cover is on airtight.

Insert rings into liquid. Wait about 25 seconds and remove ring from liquid with plastic tweezers and rinse under fresh water. Another way to apply it with a rag and clean off with another rag using protective gloves.

The A-R coating residue will now be gone. Certain rings may require a longer wait or a re-dip for another short period.

Caution

Wear protective gloves. Even while the liquid does not create immediate burns on the skin, caution should be exercised. The Hydrophobic Cleaner liquid is a mix of several acids and solvents. Any body contact with the material should be avoided.

Disposal

As all other chemical products, used Hydrophobic Cleaner should be disposed off according to law. The best way seems to be to collect the used up liquid in a old plastic 1 gallon bottle.

When full, dispose through a chemical waste company or bring it to one of those periodic free municipal collections of chemicals.
