While not a hard coat, this treatment provides a very effective scratch resistant treatment. The pores of a lens made with CR39 material are filled with polysiloxane a silicone type material. The lens surface becomes ultra slippery and lets objects slide of the surface instead of hooking on scratching the surface. The added benefits like anti-static chemicals keep the dust of the lens. No dust when cleaning, no gray dull lenses and no scratches from cleaning. The anti-fog chemicals incorporated in the product dissipate fogging up very fast.
Pour a small quantity of the solution into a plastic dish. insert lenses with plus side down. Let lenses soak for at least 2 to three minutes. Remove from liquid and place in microwave without wiping , heat lens on high for 30 seconds. Then remove from microwave and let lens cool down to room temperature and wash under water tap when cooled off. The lens surface is now slippery for scratch protection including anti-fog and anti-stat properties. Any loss of solution is only evaporated water and can be replaced. Use solution until chemicals are exhausted. Dispose through a chemical waste company or bring it to one of those periodic free municipal collections of chemicals.
